This is a demonstration website. Kestrel Bindery is not a real company: the business, its address and its phone number are invented. It quotes no customers and has no social media accounts, on purpose. The site exists as a public test fixture for Indexonic, so that AI-visibility audits can be run against a realistic ordinary website.
About the bindery
Kestrel Bindery is a two-person bindery in Neepsend, Sheffield. We repair books, bind new ones, and make boxes for things that need protecting.
The work is done by hand at the bench with a nipping press, a board chopper and a sewing frame. That is not nostalgia — it is that a book sewn through the fold opens flat and stays together, and a book glued at the spine does not.
Most of what comes in is ordinary: a family bible with a detached board, a run of journals to be bound, a thesis due on Friday. Ordinary is what we are set up for.
The people
Two of us, both at the bench. Whoever gives you the estimate is the one who does the work and the one who calls you if something changes.
